Do you need to water blast or scrub after treating moss?
No — that is the point of a spray-and-leave
You spray it on and you leave it. No scrubbing, no rinsing, nobody goes back over the surface.
The treatment kills the growth at the root. Rain and weather then carry the dead material away over the following weeks. The surface keeps clearing after you have packed up.
What that saves you
On a commercial site, the cost is rarely the product — it is the hours, the gear and the access. A spray-and-leave takes a job that needed scaffolding, a machine and two people over a weekend, and turns it into a caretaker with a knapsack on a Tuesday morning.
There is also no runoff to manage and no slurry to clean up afterwards.
Where washing still has its place
Plenty of sites want a surface clean today — a building about to be painted, a forecourt before an event, a hand-over deadline. Washing gets you there immediately, and a treatment afterwards keeps it clear for far longer. The two work well together.
Purple Strike is not an exterior cleaning company. We supply the product; your team applies it. If a site needs washing, that is a job for a contractor, and we are not trying to take it.
Can you speed it up?
Not really, and it is not worth trying. Rain does the removal for free. The dead growth is gone within weeks on paths and over a few months on a roof.
If a surface has very heavy build-up, a light wash a few weeks after treatment will clear the debris — but on most sites the weather handles it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to rinse it off?
No. Spray it on and leave it.
Do I need to scrub the surface afterwards?
No. The dead growth weathers off with rain over the following weeks.
Can I water blast after treating?
You can if you want the debris gone sooner on a heavy build-up, but on most sites it is not needed — the weather clears it.
How does the dead moss come off?
Rain and wind. It breaks down and washes away over the weeks following treatment.
